From the very beginning with the nickelodeon, the technology has enabled these stories to be delivered. What’s interesting to me is, does the platform influence the story or is the story eternal? What happens as the platform changes? Do people have to create technology platforms in order for the story to be fully told?”

AFI DigiFest Showcases Digital Media, Mobile Innovation

Volunteer mentors have worked with a wide range of innovators in 3 to 6-month periods of hands-on development, generating more than 90 digital media proof-of-concept prototypes.Every year, these projects are presented to the public at AFI DigiFest, a two-day event held in conjunction with AFI FEST. This year’s AFI DigiFest takes place Nov. 4 and 5th in Hollywood.

May 30 by Debra Kaufman | 8 CommentsJournalist/filmmaker L.M. Kit Carson is well-known in the film world, as screenwriter and/or producer for a long list of the kinds of films that filmmakers like. That’s why I was intrigued to meet him and his producer Cynthia Hargrave at the Mobile Entertainment Forum where they showed a short documentary made in Mozambique. What set the documentary apart was that it wasn’t shot with a film or digital camera, but with a cell phone camera, more specifically the Nokia N93 cell phone. The Mozambique documentary is one of a trilogy of films that will form Africa Diary, to be released on the Sundance Channel, the Sundance Channel website and on mobile.
