Producers Guild to Honor ‘Digital 25′
The Producers Guild of America (PGA) is accepting nominations for “The Digital 25: Visionaries, Innovators and Producers of 2009,” which will honor “individuals and teams that have made the most significant contributions to the
advancement of digital entertainment and storytelling over the previous year.”
Deadlines for submission have been extended to May 8, and the final “Digital 25” will be announced on June 6, as part of the PGA’s inaugural Produced By Conference, being held at Sony Pictures Studios.
Finalists will be chosen by an Advisory Panel of experts in digital entertainment , including Nokia Research Center Director Rebecca Allen, Greenberg and Traurig attorney Ian Ballon, MTV Executive Vice President Greg Clayman, Google Head of Content David Eun, Tech Coast Angel Jody Graham Dunitz, Microsoft General Manager of Windows Live Brian Hall, Davey-Brown CEO Lewis Henderson, Mass Animation/Bedouin Media founder Yair Landau, New York Times Senior Vice President of Digital Operations Martin Nisenholtz, Marvel Executive Vice President of Digital Ira Rubenstein, Wall Street Journal writer Kara Swisher, MySpace CTO Aber Whitcomb and members of the PGA New Media Council.
The Produced By Conference will also offer access to other events and discussions regarding digital entertainment, including “James Cameron: Seeing the Future in 3D,” “Digital Rights: What Are They, What Are They Worth, and How Do You Protect Them?” and “Virtual to Viral: Opportunities with New Media.” The event will feature more than 30 lectures, panels, and workshops hosted by. among others, including James Cameron, Clint Eastwood, Kathleen Kennedy, Norman Lear, Gale Anne Hurd, Mark Gordon, Marshall Herskovitz, Bruce Cohen, Michael London, Roger Corman, Carlton Cuse, Bill Lawrence, Ali LeRoi, and Sabrina Wind,.
In addition to the seminars, these speakers will participate in the Roundtable Mentoring Session, where attendees will get to sit at a table with the speaker of their choice and have an hour to ask any questions they want.
Presented by Plymouth Rock Studios and hosted by Sony Pictures Studios, the Produced By Conference will also feature the Producers Challenge film contest, technology demonstrations, networking opportunities, social events and vendor displays. Also on display will be the newest generation of digital cameras, the chance to earn the ways to finance and distribute films, how to perfect the pitches and find out how television series are developed, produced and sold.
Other producers in attendance who will participate in panels and roundtable discussions include those from Iron Man, WALL-E, Avatar, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Gran Torino, The Terminator, Blood Diamond, Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Scrubs and others.
